The primary goal of most college students is to take advantage of meeting new people. It is the reason why universities offer various clubs to join on campus, why they stress living in a dorm as a freshman, and why orientation week is one big ice-breaker after another. Colorado State University alone has over 532 different organizations for students to get involved with. So, why join Delta Sigma Pi? After all, it is only one organization out of 532 others for Colorado State University students to choose from, each one offering up new engagement opportunities and students to meet and learn from. What makes Delta Sigma Pi stand out among them?
Delta Sigma Pi unique among these student organizations because it is more than just a club, or a social fraternity, or a society dedicated to a specific purpose. It is a Brotherhood. By dictionary definition, brotherhood is “the feeling of kinship with and closeness to a group of people.” Our Brotherhood stands for so much more. Delta Sigma Pi represents an environment that fosters comradery among Brothers of diverse backgrounds and experiences. The fraternity is a safe place for people to learn from their failures, because they are always backed by a community of Brothers who have promised to do right by their peers. DSP is an ever-growing family of those committed enough to form lasting bonds of friendship and mentorship.
I chose to become a part of Delta Sigma Pi when I was seeking a community of like-minded to surround myself with. After a year of being involved with the fraternity, I can safely say that I gained much more than that. I have become friends with people who are my opposite in every way. I have the opportunity to travel the world with my Brothers. I have had the chance to serve my Brothers and give back to the fraternity in the same ways that it has given to me. Delta Sigma Pi will add more to your college experience than simply “meeting new people”, and that is one of the greatest things about our fraternity.
“There is no other love like the love for a brother. There is no other love like the love from a brother.” -Astrid Alauda
